In this blog, we will be talking about healing and will list several healing scriptures from the bible.

What is healing?

Let’s understand what healing means and hopefully, we will come away with an understanding that will reinforce what you’re seeking.

There is life and death in the power of our tongues and positive speaking can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

My hope is that you find encouragement in the lines below and will take away 1 or 2 scriptures that you can recite daily and meditate on the meaning.

What does healing mean and what does it encompass?

No matter how you define it, healing, wellness, being whole, being restored, and being free from injury and disease, all work together for your good!

Webster’s Definition

If we look at Webster’s definition of healing it means to make free from injury or disease, to make sound or whole.

Another definition is to make well again to restore to health, to cause an undesirable condition to be overcome.

Old English Definition

The Old English definition of Haelen means wholeness.

Cambridge’s Definition

The Cambridge dictionary describes healing as a process in which a bad situation or painful emotion ends and healing begins.

Usually, the healing process begins when the illness is shared with someone.

– Dr. Kathryn McFarland

Greek Definition

The Greek word Diasozo means cure; pristine; which means to be made new.

Therapeutic is a word that means to relieve diseases, to be made whole is beyond our physical state but it also encompasses mental emotional and spiritual well-being.

What I think about healing

When I think about healing I think of several things: mending, repairing, wellness, cure, and transformation.

Yes as integrated parts of a whole and wholeness.

We understand that the word that heals those, restores them to normal, or makes them whole.

Oftentimes healing means more than just physical healing, it also encompasses mental emotional and spiritual aspects… In other words, body soul, and spirit. When we talk about someone being well that is translated as being whole and also being saved from what ails us.

We talk about mending a broken heart or repairing broken relationships and curing that which ails you.

Healing: To be Made Whole

To be whole is beyond physical healing.

Whole also means to save. The word well is translated to be whole so wholeness goes beyond physical.  Mind, soul, and spirit affect our bodies. So healing is an all-encompassing word that cures, transforms restores, and repairs to make whole.

This is beyond man or physician’s capabilities. This responsibility belongs to the one who heals restores and makes whole and saves.  This is the Great Physician’s Good pleasure. Jehovah Rapha is the God that heals, restores us to normal, makes us whole, and transforms- Not just our physical bodies but also our soul and our spirit together. We can walk in healing when we follow this simple equation:

ACTION + FAITH = CHANGE

Healing: The 10 Lepers

I am reminded of the story in The Bible of the 10 lepers.

Priests back in biblical times were the protectors of society and they kept watch over the community. Those that had sicknesses and diseases were kept separate from society.

The 10 lepers met Jesus and they asked him to heal their condition.

Jesus told the 10 lepers to show themselves to the priest. The priest would verify that healing took place and there was no evidence of disease present. There was an outward cure for 9 of the 10 men, but only the one samaritan got the spiritual blessing.

He acknowledged God, praised God and his faith in Christ had healed him.

Hebrews 11:1 states now faith is the assurance or reality of what is hoped for the proof of what is not seen.

At the moment the samaritan man who had leprosy believed by faith that he was healed, he saw his flesh had changed from white to normal. The samaritan turned back around to praise God in Jesus’s face and his heart, soul, and spirit were also healed as a result of his act of faith.

My hope for you is that you will be transformed and cured and made whole by the One who makes us whole and mends not only your hearts but also your soul and spirit!
